You May Be A Mayberry

You are not racist, you are just a "Mayberry."

Racist is the "go-to" word these days, but it shouldn't be.  A racist is someone who believes their race is superior and actively enforces their ideology in their language and their actions.  "Mayberry" should be the "go-to" word.  A "Mayberry" is defined as follows (after I define it, I'll will cease to put it in quotes...you're welcome):

A Caucasian who has no issues with Minorities provided the Minorities don't complain about anything.

As many of you may already know, Mayberry is a fictional town where the Andy Griffith Show takes place.  In this show you can see that there are Black extras in the background of a few of the episodes.  But they had no speaking parts.

I give the show credit when I state that the first African-American speaking role was actually a good role model for Opie.  Opie had to deal with the hard decision to pick either football or piano lessons where Flip Conroy played by Rockne Tarkington felt Opie should go to football practice while Andy felt Opie should honor prior commitments and attend the piano lessons.  Flip was a former New York Giant and also a talented piano player.  The moral of the story is that Flip showed Opie that if he used his time wisely and worked hard, he could be good at both playing the piano and playing football, and Andy agreed.  Keep in mind that the first speaking role of a Black person in Mayberry was Season 7 Episode 26.

Need help in finding out whether or not you are a Mayberry???

*If you instantly became an #alllivesmatter and #bluelivesmatter supporter when #blacklivesmatter became a thing, you may be a Mayberry.  When you feel the need to point out that a death or an arrest is unfortunate no matter the race of the victim but completely ignoring that there could be more wrongful deaths and arrests inflicted on a specific demographic.

*If you get offended by the concept of "White Privilege," you may be a Mayberry.  When you don't realize that as a typical Caucasian, you are generally given the benefit of the doubt in financial, social and judicial interactions.

*If you feel as if Minorities have it better in this country than they would in any other country and feel the need to remind them of that, you may be a Mayberry.  When you feel the need to remind a Minority to go back to the country of their ancestors if they don't like how things are going here.

*If you feel obligated to bring up of black-on-black crime whenever a Minority raises the issue of police brutality, you may be a Mayberry.  When you feel as if police brutality would not exist if crime dis not exist in bad neighborhoods in Chicago and Detroit.

*If you assume that #blacklivesmatter means "black lives matter only" instead of "black lives matter too," you may be a Mayberry.  When you feel as if the worst of the protesters are the majority of the protesters.

*If you instantly became a fan of standing up during the National Anthem when Kaepernick started kneeling, you may be a Mayberry.  When you are more offended by what he is kneeling for versus why he is kneeling in the first place.

*If you are irritated by two people having a private conversation in their non-English native tongue in a public place, you may be a Mayberry.  When you are upset because you can't understand a conversation that would most likely wouldn't care about in the first place.

*If you are a Trump supporter but claim it's strictly for "political reasons," you may be a Mayberry.  When you want America to be great again, you want America to be like the town of Mayberry.

So you are not a racist.  You are just a citizen of Mayberry that doesn't want to hear any gripes from people that should be thankful to be living in Mayberry in the first place...especially the Minorities.  They should enjoy being a non-speaking extra or leave the show!
