Karma's Kronicles 3

The War Against The War Against Christmas
I'm getting really tired of these Facebook posts and mass distributed e-mails about Obama putting up a "Holiday Tree" instead of a Christmas tree.  The people accusing the President of being a Muslim and putting up a "Holiday Tree" are the same dumbass people who will be quick to associate Obama with the controversial Christian Reverend Jeremiah Wright.  There is no credible organized group out there that can legally take the Christ out of Christmas...so what are you whining about?  I really hate it when people use their freedom of speech to whine.
To me Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas are simply positive salutations.  To me it means, "I hope you have a great Thanksgiving, an awesome New Year's, and a wonderful whatever-the-hell-you-celebrate-between-them." Merry Christmas is a positive salutation specifically about Christ's birth and Happy Holidays is a positive salutation covering all off the holidays that occur during the season.  Even if you are a die-hard Christian, you shouldn't feel the need to correct some one's Happy Holidays greeting to Merry ChristmasHappy Holidays isn't necessarily Anti-Christian.  Christmas is not under attack! Christmas will not go extinct!
Non-Christians who get offended by the Merry Christmas greeting are just as ridiculous as Christians that get offended by the Happy Holidays greeting.  They are both greetings...get over it!!!  All I'm trying to say is Happy Holidays is a lot better than no greeting at all.  The only time you should openly whine about how the Holidays are celebrated is if someone was trying to tell you how to do it in your own home.  By the way...I have never ever heard of anyone referring to a Christmas tree as a "Holiday Tree."  Who comes up with this shit?
When you really think of it, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanuka, and anything else happening the last month of the year all boils down to getting in the spirit of things.  The Holidays are an excuse to be in a great mood for no apparent reason at all.  No matter what you celebrate, you are still going to take time off of work, travel, consume massive amounts of food, and purchase a bunch of shit from retail stores this season.  I'm sure there are a few Jehovah's Witnesses that take advantage of Black Friday sales.  I'm willing to bet money that the average Atheist packs on a few pounds during the holiday season.
No matter what we believe in...this season affects us all.  Let's make it a positive affect.
