A Young Man on an Old Man's Soapbox

Do you know what happens when spoiled ass children grow up and have spoiled as children of their own?  You have a fucked up generation on the rise full of narcissistic self-absorbed delinquents with some undeserving sense of entitlement.  I will call this group Generation ME.

This all started when some parents out there adopted the mantra: No one spanks my child but me.  Some of them refused to dicipline their children at all.  These are the same parents that when their child acts up in school, the parents find some way of blaiming the School Teachers.  These parents raise the kids that eventually feel as if it is their right to mouth off to Adults, even Police Officers.  They grow up with this can't do no wrong mentality under their parent's umbrella but then fall right on their face when the dark cloud, a.k.a. the real world, starts raining down on them.

My two pet peeves regarding potential physical confrontations:  1-Women that start shit knowing that I can't retaliate because I am a man and 2-Teens that start shit knowing that I can't retaliate because I am over the age of 18.  Since I got rid of a physcho ex-girlfriend many years ago, I have had no issues with pet peeve 1.  Pet peeve 2 is a different story.  Generation ME members love the fact that they can mouth-off to adults knowing that there will be no repercusions because the adult will most likely go to jail.  Sometimes when I hear news stories about Adults that get charged with Aggrivated Assult to a Minor, I often think that those Adults either lost their temper or simply lost their fear of going to jail.

So no we have this massive Generation ME infestation...and it's not just people under the age of 18.  There are Generation ME members in the 20's and even 30's who refuse to be independant and leave their parent's umbrella.  True they are the age of adults, but they lack the desire to maintain adult responsibilities that enable them to have adult privilages.  They want to reap the harvest of a hard worker without sowing any seeds of hard work.  There comes a time in everybody's life where they are considered a failure if they are still financially depandent on their parents.  I have a hard time respecting someone or even calling them an adult if they don't even pay their own bills.

The parents who spawned the members of Generation ME are not completly innocent.  They spent too much time being providers and not enough time being teachers.  One of their biggest mistakes was trying to be their child's friend as opposed to their parent.  What they didn't know is that they put more stress on getting their kids to like them instead of getting their kids to respect them.  Perhaps their mantra should have been:  You don't have to like me, but you will respect me

I hate it when people say "it's a lot different when you have kids of your own."  True, I have no kids of my own, but is that a requirement to be able to make comments about the spoiled ass members of Generation ME?
