Keyboard Drama

What is the point of bickering back and forth on the Internet?
I have been reading a handful off CNN and Time.com articles and different topics.  On some of the articles based on controversial topics (May 21st Doomsday, Trump Vs. Obama, Gay Marriage, etc...) I have taken the time to read a few of the reader comments about what they've just read.  I noticed a similar trend as I read more and more of the "gallery of public opinion" that followed an article written by a Professional Journalist. 99% of the of the reader commentary was people arguing with each other's opinion...NOT the opinion (nor a comment) about the article.

What is the point of arguing via a keyboard?  Here's a possible explanation in the form of a question:
Is it because everything we put online can be seen by everybody? Instant pride growth has its consequences.  When our pride grows we have more pride to defend...therefore we get more defensive.  When we get more defensive, we pretty much are easily offended therefore...you do the math.

It's natural; think of people that are more aggressive when they are behind the wheel of a car.  The same strange law applies to the people are more confident with a keyboard in their lap.  Inflections in their voice cannot be heard.  They never stutter or stammer in the chat room.  They have time to think before and after each witty response.  Do you know people in your life who have more intellectual "text" conversations with you versus "voice" conversations?  Do you know people in your life who has had a relationship destroyed because of a Facebook interaction?

We live in a day and age where we can create our own stage to be seen by the world...the Internet.  Anyone with a computer is capable of creating their own website, Facebook page, twitter account, or a blog site like the one you are reading now.  Anyone is capable of putting their opinion out there and the more you do it, the more opportunity you are giving anyone else a chance to disagree.  How you handle the disagreement will say a lot about your "online maturity."

You can't freak out when people disagree with you nor feel the need to "over-defend" your original position. Grow some thick skin. The more shit you put out there, the more shit you'll have to defend. More importantly think of it this way, the more shit you put out there, the more shit you are RESPONSIBLE for. The video below proves my point.

What happend to the Nephew in the video above is like the equivalent of you screaming out profanities and giving the finger in a fit of road rage only to be busted by your Boss who happend to be in the car behind you.  You can only be protected by your car for so long.  You can only hide behind your keyboard for so long.  Some conflicts aren't truly over unless they are concluded face-to-face.

When your online identity and your true identity collide, will they be idenical?  You should always keep your ego under control...and that not only applies to your online identity.  You are more than welcome to argue with me by clicking the COMMENTS button below.

Ok...Now What???

Mind Dumplings Associated with Bin Laden's Recent Departure

*Al-Qaeda is like a Cockroach.  It can function without its head, but not as sufficiently as it did before.
*The "Sore Losers" are very assertive in their efforts to remind everybody that President Obama does not deserve credit for Bin Laden's death.  On the other hand, if Bin Laden wasn't eliminated during Obama's presidency, these people would have considered him a failure.
*Al-Qaeda's revenge threats doesn't cause me to lose sleep.  However, I really think it would just prolong an unnecessary war.
*Sometimes I think Obama can't win for losing.  His critics bashed him for not publishing the pictures of Bin Laden's body.  I'm pretty sure his critics would have bashed him if he published them anyway.
*I'm also tired of the Fundamentalist Christians telling everyone that it is wrong to celebrate Bin Laden's death.  I'll admit, I wasn't outside doing back flips when I found out, but I did feel a huge wave a satisfaction and closure.  If I'm going to hell for feeling that way, then so be it.
*Reports are saying that they found a huge stash of porn in Bin Laden's compound.  Fucking Hilarious.  I have a hard time imagining Muslim Porn...do they cut a hole in the Burqua or something?  Do they have Burqua contests over there, kind of like how we have Bikini contests over here?
*I can't help but to think that Bin Laden's disdain against American's was based more on jealousy instead of religious and political differences.
*Although I agree with Obama's choice to not show the photos...I still want to see them.
*Pakistan's Parlament has condemned our raid on Bin Laden's compound.  I guess this is their way of looking at Al-Qeada with puppy dog eyes and saying "it wasn't my fault!"

Instant Bridge

You don't have to be a Railroader to realize that this is some scary shit!
This is pretty much the result of poor drainage control.  If I had to guess, the culvert underneath the track (assuming one was present) was not large enough the handle the increased rainfall at this location.  Instead, the railroad corridor becomes a dam that has to temporarily handle the longitudinal forces on one side of the track.  Regarding the video above...I think he waited too damn long to run.

Random Mind Dumplings 15

*Osama Bin Laden is dead.  He was killed during a Special Operations Mission conducted by the CIA and Navy SEALs.  Am I a total nerd in thinking about that mission being on a video game one day???  It sounds just like a "Call of Duty Black Ops" game mission.  I guess you have to be a video game nerd to understand...

*If an Xbox came with a vagina...the Single Woman population would skyrocket.

*Why did they even have an NFL Draft?  It makes Fantasy Football look more like a legitimate hobby when you actually see the NFL do it themselves.

*A woman's clit is a lot like nature's Rubik's Cube.  It's like unlocking a combination lock in the dark...while the woman is moaning out instructions on what the numbers are.

*I don't understand Golf.  I don't understand why people think it is fun, why ESPN covers it, why people spend money on it, and why corporate America worships it.  The World Series of Poker should be banned from ESPN also.

*I recently came out of "poetry retirement" to write Lady Karma a poem for our 1 year anniversary.  Although I do not regret my retirement...I'm glad I was able to put one together for her.

*I'd like to be a Porno Star for a day...but just for one day, that seems like enough.

*I think the Sacramento Kings should stay in Sacramento.  Don't sleep on Northern California's fan base.  Trust me, they are there.

*Did you see that viral video of the chic at IHOP getting punched by the Police Officer here in Atlanta???  That wouldn't have happened to a Smart Woman.

*Say what you want about the morality behind celebrating Bin Laden's death.  If it is enough to unite a Phillies fan and a Mets fan chanting "USA USA USA" together...it's worth celebrating.
